THINGS TO SEE & DO SURFING
Aireys Inlet and Fairhaven offer some of the best surf
spots in the state. With beaches facing south and east, good waves
can generally be found somewhere close by and if you’re up to it, the
legendary Bells Beach is just 20 minutes up the road.
FISHING
The sandy beaches to the west of the lighthouse produce
salmon and the occasional snapper, gummy shark and flathead in the
surf, and king george whiting, sweep and wrasse are often caught off the
rocks to the east.
The creek directly in front of Butlers Bend is worth a try for
bream. Your host, John is a keen angler and will be happy to provide
his knowledge and experience in this regard.
BUSH WALKS
Approximately 1 kilometre up Bambra Road from Butlers
Bend are the Distillery Creek Picnic Grounds. There are some
great, well maintained walking tracks through the Great Otway
National Park commencing from the picnic area; they are well
sign posted and the approximate distance
and duration of each walk is listed. Similar picnic ground facilities
and walks can be found at Moggs Creek, approximately 4 kilometres
down the
Great Ocean Road towards Lorne.
Aireys Inlet also offers mountain bike
and canoe hire and horse riding.
